Are we talking about the books or the show or the boardgame or the roleplaying game?

When does it become good? People are raving left and right but I gave up after two episodes.
My quick breakdown for ya
*no spoilers, just "mood" spoilers*
Season 1 takes a while to take off. It's a lot of information, a lot of build-up and a few mysteries that are SLOWLY unravelled. It's more about soaking in the world, the factions, the lingo and the overall themes and mood. I like the series' approach to mystery, though - you do not find a source that explains it all, the magic book or the tech that *finally* reveals it. Answers take time and research, and can be skewed by differing viewpoints.
It gets much better when you're already immersed in it.
Season 1 - slow buildup, getting to know the world, the politics are TOUGH - you gotta pay a ton of attention - definitely not to be watched while flipping a phone - tougher with kids around, I know. One of the "slowest" seasons. Hang in there. And, dang, what happened to Julie Mao?
Season 2 - Pacing is much better, so much to discover, new characters, new developments.
Season 3 - It's one of the most *satisfying* seasons of *anything* I've ever watched on TV. Really.
Season 4 - It's "Season 1" again. It drags a bit, the mystery is kinda annoying, but the politics here (which are kinda understated a bit) are REALLY important later.
Season 5 - The most character-driven season we got so far. Also one of the most cinematic, in a good sense. Lots of experimentation (NOT gratuitous though) with single-take scenes, fixed-perspective shots, it's really good.

I think the show is pretty great.
The boardgame is a multiparty Twilight Struggle and is excellent (we haven't played enough to ruin it yet I think).
The roleplaying game has some good setting stuff but I didn't think much of the mechanics unfortunately.
I hate flat mode too. :\
Is threaded available?
